susanna, 15 months

i took susanna to the dr last thursday for her 15 month appt. poor baby, got 2 shots, but otherwise loved the visit :) she was all over the exam room and making me crazy trying to keep her from laying on the floor, touching the dirty trash can, getting into everything, etc. i always have a headache after these appts thinking of the germs we just exposed ourselves to! i'm going to do a post later on when i have time about everything miss susanna is up to, but for right now here are her stats and a few cute pics...

weight - 20lbs 11oz (20%)
height - 30 3/4" (75%)
head - 45.2 (45%)

we took the girls to the pumpkin patch on sunday afternoon and had a great time! we love legare farms on john's island. they have a pumpkin patch, hayride, animals, slide, corn maze, etc. and, john always loves a reason to go to john's island b/c it's so pretty and not spoiled (yet) by development. in the parking lot, we ran into our next door neighbor who was there by herself with her little boy. she's pregnant and has not felt great and was struggling so we enjoyed the day with both of them, too, and tried to help with her little boy robert. my girls love him and he loves them so it was a win win! it was a beautiful day and made me feel very fallish finally!!!

the solid rock

i saw this on another blog and wanted to share. it is amazing to study and know the history behind wonderful hymns. i sometimes make my walk with the Lord so much more complicated than it is...this song sums it all up. thank you, Lord, for being my solid rock!

The Solid Rock
Edward Mote

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus' name.

On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
All other ground is sinking sand.

His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.

On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
All other ground is sinking sand.

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
O may I then in Him be found!
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne!

On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
All other ground is sinking sand.

In 1797 Edward Mote was born into poverty. Never allowed to have a Bible, he somehow managed to hear the gospel and believe. He grew up to be a skilled carpenter and on his way to work one day, wrote this chorus in his head. Before the day was finished he had written all the verses. That was in 1834. In 1852, he gave up his business and became a preacher until he died in 1873.

john's brother danny and wife rachel welcomed their second little girl (and my 5th niece) into the world monday, october 13 around 5pm. she was supposedly 4 weeks early, but weighed 8lbs 10oz!!! i'm thinking the due date was off or that would have been one b-i-g baby in another month :) unfortunately, i had just driven back to charleston from georgia sunday night despite almost staying an extra night. boy do i wish i had. and caroline has not sopped reminding me that she told me we needed to stay! i was completely bummed to miss seeing her on her actual birthday so we got back in the car wed afternoon and came to see her. it was worth it!! she is precious and everyone is doing great!

adirondack chairs

wanted to give a shout out to my dad who made us 2 beautiful adirondack chairs! the benefits of my dad's woodworking skills are awesome...i have so many beautiful pieces of furniture in my home and they are that much more special b/c they were made by his talented hands. it's no surprise that i usually get compliments on things he has made, not the store bought stuff. thank you, dad, you're the best!!

we were in georgia for a long weekend this past weekend and had so much fun! me and caroline went to the dentist so i snapped some pics. i still get so nervous thinking i might have a cavity and now i'm even more anxious hoping caroline doesn't have any either. needless to say, i'm a little militant with the brushing!! thank goodness both of us are still cavity free. caroline's 2 middle bottom teeth are slightly loose. she loves going to the dentist and loves ms. margo. we also got to spend some time with cousins. unfortunately, i didn't get as many pics of that as i wished!!

my sister's youngest, andrew, turned 2 on october 12 so we enjoyed celebrating with him at his party at my parents' house saturday. he is so cute you could eat him up!! his eyelashes are seriously 5 miles long. he is a ham and keeps us laughing. he and susanna love on each other one minute and then knock each other down the next. my sis is the queen of kid parties and this one was all about trucks. andrew is obssessed with trucks and cars. he loved every gift and could have played all night long with his new stuff. we loved celebrating with him and can't wait to see what the Lord has planned for his life!! we love you, little buddy :)
